Welcome to my blog about how to cook crabs. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a huge fan of blue crabs. My Mom has a picture of me as a 2 year old sitting beside a large kitchen table which was filled with a bushel of cooked blue crab.
A few years ago, we took a similar picture of my own daughter sitting at a table admiring the bushel of cooked crabs that lied on the table before her. She was a natural because she was already sitting there with the nut cracker in her hand ready to pick her first crab.
It’s always been a family event, buying our bushel of crabs during the summer months when they’re in season in eastern Virginia, taking the live bushel home, and anticipating an evening with family picking crab over the newspaper covered table which sharing stories, laughing, and having fun just being together.
In this blog, I’m going to showcase some of our best recipes for crab, including recipes for cooking blue crab, cooking crab legs, cooking king crab legs, dungeness crab, and also going over how to pick crabs and how to identify the differences between different types of crab. I hope that you might find some of these recipes to help suit some of your cooking needs whether you are a beginner to cooking crab or a seasoned crab cooker who would like some additional ideas for serving this delicious crustaceon!
